Requirements 1. Introduction to topic and review of sources Provide a 1-page introduction to your topic and review of sources. In your introduction and review include answers to the following: • What is the topic you selected? • Why did you choose it? • What did you hope to learn? • Were your articles useful? If yes identify which articles were useful and why. If no, explain why not. • What did you learn about your topic? • List in bulleted form, the five most important or appropriate things you learned about your topic. • What else would you like to know? 2. Bibliography/Reference List Choose a topic area (business, enterprise, issue, sub-sector, or something else tourism related that is of interest to you) and spend time in the library and on-line researching your topic to see what you can learn about it in more depth. Then using TRU library and on-line resources available, find and list in a bibliography in APA format the following sources related to the topic you have selected. (Note: resources listed in a bibliography are in alphabetical order and they are NOT numbered or bulleted) • Two newspaper articles (in print or electronic format) reporting this topic; • One commercial periodical article (trade or consumer magazines – in print or electronic format) about this topic, or one government document (in print or electronic format relating to the topic); • One academic periodical article (in print or electronic format) presenting research related to this topic; and • One book reference from the library stacks collection containing information related to this topic. 3. The Annotation. Write an annotation for 3 of the 5 sources you listed in your bibliography. (Note: use only one newspaper article for the annotation) Include the following in your annotation: • A summary of the main points of the article. In other words what is the article about? • Is it a useful article in that it provided you with more information on your topic? If yes, why is it useful? If no, why isn’t it useful? • Is your source credible? • Attach a copy of the sources you annotated. Format: This assignment must be word-processed using a 12-point font (We recommend Times Roman or a similar style that is easy to read), and 1.5 spacing with 1-inch margins. Don’t forget to number your pages! Your entire assignment should include the following sections: 1. Title Page (including the title of the assignment, your name, the course name and section, and the date submitted – no page number on the cover page) 2. 1-page introduction to the topic you have selected and review of sources. See section 1 under requirements. 3. An annotation of 3 of the sources you selected 4. A copy of each of the annotated sources in the same order as they appear in your list of annotations 5.
