UN peacekeepers were recently sent to deal with a developing crisis in the Central African Republic
(CAR) where violence between the Christian and Muslim communities has been escalating. The national
government and international community have been slow to respond to this crisis. If the violence is left
unchecked the situation could become a repeat of the genocide in Rwanda. Use the course readings(attached PDF files) on
human rights, inequality, non-state violence, multilateralism and governance to make an argument about
the strengths and weaknesses of the current system of global governance in responding to this kind of
violence.
