Submit a brief ethnographic essay, based on observations in a location of your choosing (3-5 pages double-spaced). The first ethnographic note will be a general (“thick”) description of a particular social world. It should be based on at least three hours spent in a given location (a café, park, museum, basketball court, shop) and should include details of your own participation and conversations, as well as observations. It should include both description and analysis, using at least 5 key terms from the textbook.
The second ethnographic note (based again on three hours of participant observation in the same location) should be a description of the observed inequalities and forms of stratification in this place.
