The Chapter on Magnetism looked at some things we once consider futuristic. A number of times books and movies have looked into the future and created what they envisioned the world to be at that time. Blade Runner predicted a bleak future, and others like Disney’s tomorrowland predicted a bright wonderful future. Read through the articles on predictive stories and select one. List the major points that the articles cover and if they got them right or wrong. If they got any of them wrong, discuss if you feel they ever will happen. Finally select something from your major field of study and select 2 items and discuss them. What has changed dramtically in the last 20 years in the field. What do YOU predict will be very different in your field in 20 years, and why?
