Cognition in the Real World Essay DUE: December 9, 2016
Directions: Choose a topic in cognition (which is probably ANY possible topic related to thinking), whether or not we%u0432%u0402%u2122ve covered it in class already, and think of how it can be applied in your daily life. This works best if you have a specific hypothesis or question you want to answer. (NOTE: Choose a topic that interests YOU! This will be much more enjoyable if you actually care about and like your research topic!)
There is NO specific page length. All I ask is that you answer all the questions below:
%u043F%u201A· What is your %u0432%u0402%u045ACognition%u0432%u0402%u045C topic?
%u043F%u201A· Why does this specific area/concept/topic interest you? What do you want to learn
from this?
%u043F%u201A· What type of research has already been done on this topic? (I want a small summary,
not an entire literature review!%u043F%u0403%u0409)
%u043F%u201A· What hypothesis/question do you have when relating your chosen topic to the real
world? Make sure this part is clear because it introduces the rest of your paper!
%u043F%u201A· How can the information from this topic be applied to your/other peoples%u0432%u0402%u2122 daily lives?
o This will be the most important and largest part of your essay. Your job is to convince me that your chosen topic of cognition plays an important role in reality, when it is applied to our work, environment, health, success, happiness, etc. You will convince me by clearly stating the relationships you feel exist between cognition and its applications, giving examples, and providing evidence from previous research. *
%u043F%u201A· How will this information be useful to others? In what way? To whom?
%u043F%u201A· Why is this important to the field of Cognitive Psychology?
