• what makes it SF
• what is the foregrounded vs backgrounded information
• who is the narrator and what difference does that make
• what important images or symbols recur in the story
• what “sub-genres” (disaster, near future, aliens from earth, alien encounter, artificial intelligence, cyberpunk etc.)it belongs to and why. (It can be a combination)
• if it involves aliens, what kind are they (knowable or unknowable), what symbolic meaning do they have,
• what is the view of science that the story presents
