Compare and contrast Healthcare Apps

Note: You will need to download medical apps onto an iPhone, iPad, or Android device to complete this assignment. If you do not have any of these devices, you may use the app in a web browser on the host%u0432%u0402%u2122s website.

Step 1: Compare two (2) patient-based medical apps

Choose two (2) patient user mobile medical apps. Enter the same three (3) topics for each app. Record your findings on the concept map provided below. An example is provided.

Step 2: Compare results to one provider-based medical app

Choose one provider-based medical app from the list provided in Canvas. Enter the same three (3) criteria you entered for the patient-based apps. Note the results on the concept map.

Step 3: compare provider-based app results to evidence-based literature

Using the Galen library, research a minimum of two (2) scholarly articles related to the topics associated with the medical apps. Record your findings in the summary section of the concept map.

Choosing the Apps: There are more than 40,000 health-related mobile apps available. To guide you in your decision, there are some resources that can direct you to the best, most reliable health apps on the market available in Canvas.

When deciding on the apps for your concept map, also consider the following criteria of a well-designed medical app. Does the app:

Inform: Provide information in a variety of formats (text, photo, video)
Instruct: Provide instructions to the user
Record: Capture user entered data
Display: Graphically display user entered data/output user entered data
Guide: Provide guidance based on user entered information (i.e. recommend a physician consultation or course of treatment)
Remind/Alert: Provide reminders to the user
Communicate: Provide communication with the HCP/patients and/or provide links to social networks.
