We live in an era where technology is changing quickly. Analytics methods themselves are not much different from those that existed a few decades ago. But the context in which they operate is radically different and still changing. Faster machines, more data sources, more embedded intelligence, better connected decisions are just a few of the operating assumptions today and in the coming future.

So our personal success today counts on us being connected to technology decisions that will still be relevant a decade from now. In the short term this means being adaptive, as part of teams, to solve the problems of today. In the only slightly longer term it will mean finding places in the right future technologies that embed analytics in decision making of that future. It’s hard because it requires some element of future prediction.

In this discussion, identify the trends that you see as having the greatest impact on how the future success of your projects is defined and realized. What factors–not hype–both inside and outside of the organization might cause ambiguity or difficulty in your ability to succeed? Then, identify what you will do to ensure that you continue learning about the trend, both while you are in this program and after you graduate.
For this discussion, I will be looking to see that you are thoughtful about the changing context in which success is defined, that you are able to think critically about your own professional learning pathway, and that you can interact thoughtfully with others in a coaching and co-learning capacity.
