Abstract:
Finite element analysis of fluid flow in intake piping for internal combustion engines.
Nowadays although different power systems has been widely implemented in motor vehicles, internal combustion engines are still the more popular kind of power source. Car manufacturers and researchers has been trying to find various ways to improve the efficiency of internal combustion engines. One way to improve the efficiency of the engine is to optimize the design of the intake manifold, so more air can flow into the engine freely. In the final project I want to use the finite element analysis knowledge learned from this class to study how different designs of the intake manifold will affect the efficiency of the air flow to the engine. I will be mainly using Abaqus for the analysis.
