Pretend, for a moment, that you’re a college administrator having a conversation with a college student about why they would want to take this course, Political science: Introduction to United States Government. Presenting your work in epistolary form (in an exchange of letters), what arguments would you make to this person? What might be the advantages of taking this course? What would they rightfully expect to learn? What areas of government might be under examination? How would the student, the student’s family and friends, indeed, society as a whole, benefit from their instruction in this area? What counter arguments might the student make? For example, if their interest in college studies center around biology, why on earth would they need to take a course in American Government?
