Learning to See
The challenge posed in “Learning to See” is part of each person’s journey. How do we learn to see clearly and then act on our commitments? Draw on the story of the woman who has been blind as a metaphor for everyone’s search to see with clarity. What are two significant points that are raised in this chapter about sight and blindness? What might a Buddhist monk say in response to this question in light of another view of blindness?

Consider then the film, Amazing Grace, in which average citizens learn to see beyond what their culture has taught them about slavery. What are two specific moments in which their vision is improved.
