Can you please write the material and methods section. This is the part of my dissertation. The main aim of this project is to compare the mere exposure effect in patients with dementia and the healthy elderly. Dementia is a mental disorder characterized by memory impairments, among others. The mere exposure effect is linked to implicit memory and it refers to an increase in appreciation of music and other forms of art with repeated exposure to such stimuli, due to familiarity The participants in this study would be briefly exposed to 12 samples of classical music (1 min long) in one test and to 10 colored cards in the other test. The task would be to rate the pleasantness level of each stimulus. The tasks would be repeated once a week for a period of 3 weeks. The findings could increase our understanding of dementia in terms of aesthetic appreciation of music and colour after repeated exposure to such stimuli. Design: Repeated measures within-subject Duration: 3 days, spread over 3 consecutive weeks Participants: 30 patients with dementia and 30 controls.
