New technology and new materials have profoundly affected theatrical production in the last 100 years. So much so, in fact, that is it difficult for modern audiences to conceive what a theatrical production at the turn of the century would have looked like. Discuss the various design processes that have been outlined in your reading, but as they would have been undertaken in the period from 1900 to 1920. You may have to research! Remember that many of the appliances and conveniences (sewing machines, synthetic fabrics, recorded sound) would not have been available at the time.
