Describe a brief synopsis of a project that would consider how fictional television programs, particularly sitcoms, portrays working/ class characters and working class labor narratives. Describe in roughly one page a synopsis of what the proposal would consider and some research questions that go along with this study.. In the second page, include a discussion of the methodology needed to undertake this study.

Although a key idea would suggest paying attention to ideology, consider the also recent contributions to Television Studies over the past 10-20 years that have attempted to move ‘beyond’ ideology as the sole object of analysis, and perhaps also consider questions of audience and fandom studies, industry studies, and/or political economy to get a richer picture of how this sort of programming works and what this project could consider to analyze in its research.
