Assignment Requirements
The images below correspond to the first letter of your last name. Please find and examine your sculpture. After looking at it closely, answer the questions below and submit your work as a word processed document using the hyperlink provided.
Question 1: How was your sculpture created (I want you to read about the processes that create sculptures, so describe to me how the artist must have created this)?
Question 2: Does your sculpture have any type of texture (a tricky question with sculptures, be careful – you have both actual and implied texture)?
Question 3: Is there any iconography in your sculpture (are there any clues that would lead you to understand what this sculpture is ‘about’)? What are you ‘reading’ in this sculpture, ie, what do you think is going on or what is the artist trying to say?
Question 4: Where, specifically, is the positive and negative space of your sculpture?
Question 5: Is your work of art representational, abstract or non-objective? Why?
Question 6: What is the focal point of your sculpture?
Question 7: Is it high relief, low relief or sculpture in the round?
Question 8: How many more terms can you work in from the Objectives section?
When you are done answering these questions, please feel free to add anything else that has struck you when looking at your sculpture, then save your file to Word or Rich Text Format.
I am not giving you any information about these sculptures (like a title) because I want to know what you have to say about the sculptures – in galleries and museums you can usually cheat and read the title to get an idea of what you are supposed to be seeing. No such luck here.
